Imagine you’ve got a number from the internet, called the number and said you would like a Gas Safe Registered Engineer to service your boiler. The Engineer has serviced your boiler and you decide you would also like them to service your fire. Just by looking at them, which one is the Engineer only registered to work on boilers and which is the Engineer registered to work on boilers and fires?

As far as we are aware, neither of these two men are registered, but you really can’t tell by looking – you NEED to ask to see their Gas Safe Registered Card. This is the first part you will want to see to make sure that the person presenting the card is the registered holder as it will have their picture on it.

Here you will see that this Engineer is qualified to carry out work on a fire.  This is out of date now, but you will need to make sure that the qualifications are in date and if they are not, you are should refuse the Engineer touching your fire (or whichever equipment they are there to look at).

YOU ARE ONLY PROTECTING YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY BY BEING CAUTIOUS – Any Engineer should be happy to show you their Gas Safety Registered Card.
